2010 Suzuki Bonneville Kizashi

The North American division of Suzuki has just Releases details on a special edition Kizashi model,

Suzukis North American division revealed that the Bonneville Kizashi started with a pre-production Kizashi prototype. Last May, construction of the Kizashi racer started with the Holdener/Habrzyk team installing the SCTA-approved roll cage, an aluminum bulkhead in the rear, racing seat, seat harnesses and window net. When it comes to performance, the Bonneville Kizashi is equipped with a new intake manifold, a tuned long tube header and forged rods and pistons.

The car is powered by a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC engine that delivers 500 wheel hp at 7000 rpm and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. It also gets a new intake manifold, a tuned long tube header, forged rods and pistons, a Turbonetics turbocharger, a new 3.5-inch exhaust, and full synthetic 5W-20 racing oil from Lucas Oil. Its main target will be to hit a top speed of 200 mph.

The Bonneville Suzuki Kizashi is currently undergoing testing and will hit the salt flats on August 14.

Press Release

BONNEVILLE KIZASHI SOMETHING GREAT IS RUNNING

  • Bonneville Kizashi builds on Suzukis winning tradition.
  • Boosted powertrain moves sport sedan into new segment Over 200 mph.
  • Modifications void Americas #1 Warranty.

BREA, Calif. (August 9, 2010) Since its introduction to the press in July of 2009, Suzukis Kizashi has been recognized as a midsize sedan with a difference or two. Boasting a rigid structure, composed platform, suspension tuned on the famed Nurburgring and available all-wheel drive, the Kizashi has enjoyed accolades from both media and consumers; most notably, the Kizashi ranked first in AutoPacifics 2010 Vehicle Satisfaction survey. And with 185 horsepower from its 2.4 liter DOHC four, the 2010 Kizashi boasts class-leading power in the four-cylinder segment.

Fast forward to August 2010, and Suzuki moves the Kizashi into a category typically reserved for Bonneville streamliners. With extensive modifications supplied by Richard Holdener and Tom Habrzyk of Advanced Product Engineering and with Road & Tracks Sam Mitani behind the wheel, American Suzukis first-ever automotive assault on the salt begins on August 14 in Wendover, Utah. There, the Bonneville Kizashi competing in the Blown Gas Coupe category will rocket its way toward the 200 mph benchmark and, if successful, into Suzukis already remarkable motorsport history.

The Bonneville Kizashi began with a pre-production Kizashi prototype. In May 2010, construction of the Bonneville racer began with interior disassembly, underscoring Kizashis initial design premise. Premium without the premium is, suddenly, completely without the premium, reflecting a bare metal working environment intended for but one mission. Its upscale appointments removed, the Holdener/Habrzyk team installed the SCTA-approved roll cage, an aluminum bulkhead in the rear, racing seat, seat harnesses and window net.

With the cockpit modifications made, it was time to take a look under the hood and build on, with this Kizashi, the performance tradition rooted in Suzukis first win on Mt. Fuji some 55 years ago. The spare motor was disassembled to confirm the stock measurements, while the cylinder head was flowed and ported. The Bonneville Kizashi benefits from a new intake manifold, a tuned long tube header and for high rpm durability forged rods and pistons. With up to 20 pounds of boost from the Turbonetics turbocharger, the Kizashis increased horsepower required air-to-water intercooling (and Snow water/methanol injection) while its output demands a new ACT Clutch and Pressure Plate. A scattershield is added, the oil pan is welded for a new drain fitting and a new 3.5-inch exhaust is fabricated aft of the turbocharger. Additional protection for the high-boost, high-rpm turbo motor is provided by full synthetic 5W-20 racing oil from Lucas Oil.

The Kizashi platform and its Nurburgring heritage is morphed into a salt-specific recipe with new coilovers, steel wheels seam welded, and speed-specific 15x7-inch Goodyear Front Runner rubber. An air dam keeps the Kizashis nose planted, window straps and hood pins ensure the hood and glass stay in place, and a parachute can bring the high speed show to an emergency stop. Finally, a dual fire system provides the extra assurance so important for Mitani, with some 900 boosted horses but only a few feet in front of his now high-speed capsule.

With the build completed at the end of July, the first week of August provides a narrow window for the chassis dyno tune and over-the-road (closed course, professional driver) testing. Then its on to Bonneville and the week of speed, beginning Saturday, August 14 and ending on Friday, August 20. If the week goes as planned, and the Kizashi performs as designed, the SCTA will have two new members among its 200 mph ranks: Road & Tracks Sam Mitani and the 2010 Suzuki Bonneville Kizashi
.

2010 Suzuki Concept Kizashi Turbo

Suzuki has premiered the 2010 Kizashi Turbo Concept on the 30th of April.

The concept was born out of the designs of Suzuki tuner Road Race Motorsports working with a pre-production Kizashi GTS. Road Race Motorsports added its own 16G turbocharger, high-flow intercooler, an extreme spray injector, a blow-off valve and a velocity air intake. All that takes the Kizashi up to a competitive 290 bhp (216 kW).

The power will be set to 216kW in a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder engine. The base power for the GTS is only 138kW, therefore the Road Race upgrade is quite hefty in the power department.

Other goodies include the custom fuel management, Road Races Sleeper blow-off valve, Velocity air intake and Extreme spray injector as wel as a custom crafted turbo manifold and a 38 mm wastegate supplied by Tial. With all these installed, the car carries now an impressive 290 hp, more than enough wed say to deliver impressive performances via 19-inch Dunlop tires. Also, for better stability, a new set of Road Race sport springs were installed as well as a rear-mounted spoiler delivered by Delta Tech Engineering

SUZUKI'S CONCEPT TURBO KIZASHI BLOWS' DOORS OFF MIDSIZE COMPETITION

Blower heightens the excitement with lowered, tuned Kizashi

BREA, Calif. (April 30, 2010) - After an impressive performance preview of Suzuki's 2010 Kizashi at last fall's Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, the heightened fun (on closed course, with professional driver) continues with the debut of Kizashi's concept turbocharged variant. As seen - beginning this month - with racer Tommy Kendall and his Speed Channel program "Test Drive," this newest Kizashi concept morphs the intended definition of Kizashi from the Japanese - "something great is coming" - into "what might be coming next?"

In production form, the all-new Kizashi delivers a premium package and experience without the premium price tag, providing a unique blend of dynamic performance attributes and features more appropriate to the near-luxury sport sedan segment. The performance experts at Road Race Motorsports build on those performance attributes and near-luxury features with a host of mods designed to heighten the excitement factor while lowering the Kizashi's lap times on any closed-course venue.

Road Race Motorsports, one of the chief suppliers of go-fast goods for Suzuki automotive enthusiasts, began the Suzuki turbo project with a pre-production Kizashi GTS. Boost is supplied to the stock heads and block by a 16G turbocharger, while temp is kept in check with Road Race Motorsports' own high flow intercooler. Other adds on the hardware menu include custom fuel management, Road Race's Sleeper blow-off valve, Velocity air intake and Extreme spray injector. The equal length turbo manifold is custom crafted, while the 38mm wastegate is supplied by Tial.

The enhanced power bumps the Kizashi's already impressive engine to 290 hp and is connected to the track pavement via 19-inch Dunlops. Those are kept connected to the course by Road Race's own sport springs, working in combination with Kizashi's ultra-rigid unibody and all-independent suspension. High-speed stability is enhanced with the addition of a rear-mounted spoiler supplied by Delta Tech Engineering. The end result on the track - with either Road Race founder Rob Tallini, Tommy Kendall or the Suzuki enthusiast behind the wheel - is the need for speed suddenly and fully satisfied.

Air dates for the newest edition of Speed Channel's "Test Drive" begin on April 30, 2010. For a complete schedule, visit the Speed Channel website.

New York Auto Show: 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport

Suzuki had just debuted the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport production version , scheduled to go on sale in the US this August, at this year's New York International Auto Show .

The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport offers various styling options including a new front fascia with chrome accents, side sill extensions, lower body side molding with chrome accents and a trunk mounted spoiler. The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport sits on 18-inch alloy wheels and has a 10 mm lowered ride height.

The suspension changes, it seems, are the extent of the mechanical upgrades gifted to the Kizashi Sport. Power still comes from a 2.4-liter DOHC I-4, which is rated at 185 horsepower, and 170 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, although a continuously variable transmission is optional (and mandatory if all-wheel-drive is ordered). Selecting the CVT drops the engine's output to 180 horsepower.

At the interior the 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport gets a sport steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather, new stitching for the leather seats, and various other upgrades.

The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport price will get announced as the sale date approaches.

Offered exclusively on Kizashi GTS and SLS trim levels, Suzuki's new 'Sport' variant of its sleek and sophisticated sport sedan is scheduled to go on sale in the United States this August. Pricing for the all-new 2011 Kizashi Sport will be announced closer to the vehicle's arrival in dealer showrooms.

"We've been thrilled with an enthusiastic reaction to the 2010 Kizashi, and we look forward to offering sport sedan buyers the newest iteration of our stylish sport sedan later this year," said Koichi Suzuki, executive vice president American Suzuki Automotive Operations. Based on the recently introduced 2010 Kizashi (pronounced "Kee-Zah-Shee"), already acclaimed for its near-luxury content and Euro-tuned platform, the 2011 Kizashi Sport moves the excitement meter upward with a host of external mods. These include a more muscular front fascia (with chrome accents) and lower grille, body side sill extensions, lower body side molding with chrome accents, a trunk mounted spoiler, custom light weight 18-inch alloy wheels and a 10mm lower ride height for a combination of better aerodynamics and a lower center of gravity for enhanced grip and sharper handling.

Inside, the new Kizashi gets a distinctive designed sport steering wheel with perforated leather grip and contrasting stitching on the leather seats, shifter boot and emergency brake boot (when equipped with black leather interior). Interior upgrades speak to the Kizashi's sporting intent, with form-fitting sport seats and driver-centric cockpit.
2010 Kizashi

The 2010 Kizashi is available in four trim levels, ranging from the well-equipped entry-level Kizashi S priced between $18,999 for FWD and $21,899 for AWD, to the luxuriously appointed SLS model ranging from $24,499 for FWD M/T to $26,899 for AWD Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Prices do not include the $735 destination and handling charge.

Sharing its base configuration with the all-wheel-drive SX4 Crossover, the SX4 SportBack offers an all-new 2.0-liter engine delivering 150 horsepower with its standard six-speed manual transmission. For those with a preference for action with less interaction, a performance-tuned CVT (with paddle shifters) is optional. Suzuki's new hot hatch also features an aero package, larger rear, fog lamps, spoiler, lower ride package (when compared to the SX4 Crossover) with KYB performance shocks, keyless start, stability control, all-new instrument cluster and a class-exclusive standard navigation system.

New Delhi Motor Show: Suzuki SX4 Hybrid Concept

This new hybrid drivetrain is a full parallel system meaning it can run on electricity alone for short distances utilizing a 1.2-liter gasoline-burning engine with a 50 kW electric motor. Unlike many hybrids that use a CVT transmission, the SX4 is equipped with a five-speed automated manual unit. A lithium ion battery pack of unknown capacity stores the electrons.

Also new is the front bumper, which now places fog lights were air inlets used to be. Instead of oversized upper grille and lower air intake, the car now takes on a more modest and realistic look. However, the new rear bumper is more robust and sporty, which has the unfortunate effect of making the car look a bit disjointed.

In addition to the cool R3 MPV, Suzuki is also showing off a new SX4 Hybrid concept vehicle at the New Delhi Motor Show. Interestingly, this SX4 uses a previously unseen hybrid system developed by Maruti Suzuki with assistance from India's National Hybrid Propulsion Program and the (deep breath) Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources' High Energy Density Battery Development Program.

Maruti Suzuki, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese automaker, will showcase a fleet of the hybrid cars at this year's Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Developed under a partnership with several government programmes, the Suzuki SX4 Hybrid could enter mass production within five years.

Suzuki's subsidiary in India has introduced a new concept version of the SX4. The automaker introduced the vehicle at the Auto Expo 2010 in New Delhi.

Suzuki Alto Dresses Like a Fish for International Green Week Fair in Berlin

Being the only car manufacturer that will participate at the forthcoming International Green Week in Berlin, Suzuki wants to make a splash at the fair with a custom made Alto.

The Japanese automaker covered its mini car in a vinyl wrap (or at least it looks like a wrap) with a design that imitates fish scales and to top it off, they also added a... tail fin.

Billed as the world's largest fair for food, agriculture and horticulture, the International Green Week runs from January 15 to 24 in Berlin.

First tuned Tata Nano spotted

Carnation is a multi-brand car service outlet promoted by the ex-CEO of Maruti Udyog Mr. Jagdish Khattar. DC is a designer whose designs put star trek star ships to shame, but DC was not able to make his designs come in to a proper customer based market because of the lack of marketing and supply chain. Thats where Carnation & Kahttar come in. While DC provides the design Carnation takes care of the Sales. Thats what the carnation website calls The Artist meets the Enabler

When Mr. Kattar addressed Our endeavor is to create experience destinations for our customers, a nationwide world-class car care backup network and warranty will provide customers the assurance that their beautifully customized cars are in good hands when they need to be serviced.

Carnation and DC has collaborated this scheme in which customers can get their cars modified by the DC designed kits at a Carnation center. Currently kits are available for 4 models which include Toyota Innova, Honda City and Suzuki Swift. The Nano Job is currently under development and the kit will be available from next year.

While the City and Swift get the facial treatments, Innova undergoes by-pass surgery with completely reworked interiors which would easily be mistaken for a private jet cabin. With leather seats that recline to 150, a privacy partition, a 19 LCD TV with optional Satellite TV, a Sound System with DVD player, a Beverages Chiller, Fold-out tables and ample leg room you would want to never reach your destination. The exteriors are reworked with accentuated bumpers and air ducts, easy-access platforms and aircraft styled roof module.
